Lexus RX400H in for new front seat covers... had to de-seam the factory heaters and sew them onto our covers.

Anyway, it had some pin stripes.

Actual hand painted pin stripes? That’s hot.

I can’t believe how good that looks. Lowrider style on an RX!

If you don’t mind me asking, around how much (feel free to be super vague for your convenience) would a good upholstery shop charge to do a typical economy car back seat in leather (or leatherette if that’s way cheaper) plus the headrests. No fancy stuff, just mimicking the stock cloth seat design in leather. I’ve heard anywhere from $500-1000 depending on the shop, materials, and car. I would be going with the shop my friends get their vintage Euro stuff redone at so presumably labor is on the high end.

What kind of car is it? If it’s your WRX, Roadwire, Katzkin, and Alea all make kits for it so labor is much less. Look at about $600-800 for the back seat.

If it’s something oddball with no aftermarket patterns available, then it’ll be at least $1000.

Can I pile on to the Free Consulting bandwagon?

My heated driver’s seat in my 2006 Mazda 6 is looking... Rough.

I’m 6'5", 270lbs, and I frequently have some gear on my belt and in my back pockets that is very “unfriendly” towards the perforated leather.

I feel like I’ve looked at some of the aftermarket cover manufacturers, and no one took into account the airbag in the shoulder bolsters...?

I suspect I’m relegated to custom?

I can’t decide if it’s something I want to spend money on or not... Meanwhile they keep getting worse.

Kinja'd!!!

My shame is laid bare for all to see. Be gentle.

At the Charlotte shop where I work, we would do the whole seat for $400

That’s within a budget I would consider! Is there a material other than leather, maybe some type of synthetic, that would be better suited to this application?

You always hear about the legendary mb-tex... Is there a modern equivalent option?

Awesome, thank you! Yep its the WRX, the front seats are tired so I’d like to get some leather buckets for the front in an actual color, which would look ridiculous with a stock cloth back seat.

at least the pin striping is subtle, not loud and obnoxious
